ANWARC News - March 2008
THE HORSE SHOWS ARE COMING…THE HORSE SHOWS ARE COMING!!!
And so are the Coggins Clinics! Don’t miss your chance to get a cheaper package deal price on your Coggins test, along with vaccinations and deworming. Country Vet Service, Dr. Tim O’Neill, in Farmington, will be having a Coggins Clinic on Saturday, March 22nd, and March 29th, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. For further information, see their flier on the 2008 Calendar of Events page of our website, or call 479-267-2685.
Yes, indeed, show season is right around the corner. And what better way to start off the ANWARC show season for points than to have a Fun Show! The Arabian Riders And Breeders of NW Arkansas (ARAB) is hosting an open breed Fun & Fuzzy Horse Show on Sunday, March 30, 2008 at Marchant Hills Arena in Elm Springs. With many of the same classes as offered at ANWARC, this is a great opportunity to get into the very same show ring where the ANWARC shows will be held for a wonderful practice show day before beginning to compete for points for the season. The Honorable Ron Reed will be the judge – always ready to provide helpful pointers to exhibitors. The show features rosette ribbons through Sixth place, special awards for the championship classes, and this year there will be two Exhibitor High Point awards given out – one for the Juvenile High Point Exhibitor and one for the Senior High Point Exhibitor - $25.00 Wal-Mart Gift Cards. You don’t have to be a member of ARAB to show your horse, and it is open to all breeds. And most of you already know that Ron is an excellent, impartial open breed judge! Showbills are available on the ARAB website: http://ARABofNWA.tripod.com.
What’s next? The ANWARC show season starts early this year, too, with the first show on April 5th and 6th. Since this show is not hosted by an individual club, we are seeking workers for both divisions of the show – contact your ANWARC Rep. (or ME!) – to schedule some work hours.
On Saturday, April 19th, the Northwest Arkansas 4-H Horse Show will take place at the U of A Pauline Whitaker Arena in Fayetteville. Contact Angela Colly for further information: 479-957-5042.
The Northwest Arkansas Gaited Horse Club, who has historically hosted the Ozark Festival Charity Horse Show, has taken a change in venue AND a change in the date this year. This year’s show will be a one-day show, on Saturday, May 10th, beginning at 1:00 p.m. The show will be held at Equestrian Bridges at Twin Springs – in Siloam Springs. For further information, contact Angeedel Clark, show coordinator @ AMC01@uark.edu or cell (479) 601-4695 or home (479) 789-2293.
The ANWARC website continues to be updated regularly with news, events, and other pertinent information, so check back often: http://anwarcclub.tripod.com. There you will find the showbill and entry form, as well as club membership applications.
Remember the increase in entry fees this year - $5 per class for adults, $3 per class for juveniles, with a new maximum of $30 for an individual for the day, plus the $5 office charge; or the new maximum of $60 per day for a family for the day, plus a $5 office charge for each family member.
Don’t forget that the ANWARC shows are affiliated with the Arabian Open Event Incentive Program and the Paint Alternative Competition Program. Be sure to sign up for these programs through your breed associations and bring your competition forms with you to all of the shows to be signed for your events to count. I am listed as our show secretary for both organizations, so catch me any time during the shows for your forms to be signed. Most everyone knows where to find me during the shows, heehee!
Until our first show ~
