MARCHANT HILLS ARENA – ELM SPRINGS

Did you think show season was OVER?  Not So!  The ARAB Fun & Frightful Open Breed Horse Show is this Sunday, October 18th, at Marchant Hills Arena in Elm Springs, AR.  This is a charity show, benefiting the Black Stallion Literacy Project (http://www.bslp.org/) in Northwest Arkansas.  The BSLP promotes reading in both First Grade and Fourth Grade classrooms.  It has already been introduced to Northwest Arkansas schools, and we hope to expand this worthy program to even more schools in our area.  Please visit the BSLP Booth at the show.  Literature will be available on this worthy organization, and a BSLP Representative will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.

The event is FREE for spectators; registration for exhibitors begins at 9:00 a.m. and the show begins at 10:00 a.m.  Classes include Halter, Showmanship, English Pleasure (hunt seat & saddle seat), Leadline (free class), and Western Pleasure, as well as Arabian Native Costume.  Membership is not required to show your horse, and with the exception of the Arabian Most Classic and Arabian Native Costume, all classes are open breed.  The Honorable Ron Reed will be our judge for the day.  Ron is an all breed judge.

Our show features rosette ribbons through Sixth Place, as well as trophies and beautiful neck garlands for our five Championship classes.  In addition, there will be two High Point Exhibitor Awards for the day – one for Juvenile and one for Senior - $25 Wal-Mart Gift Cards.

But the absolute high point of the entire show day is always the Infamous Halloween Costume Contest!  Anything goes here, so let your imagination run wild!  Participants dress up themselves and their horses – which can be either ridden or led – and the winner will receive a $25 Wal-Mart Gift Card!

The show will also feature an inspiring performance by The Liberty Riders (http://www.myspace.com/liberty_riders), during the lunch break.  This group performs to “The Ragged Ole Flag” by Johnny Cash, ending with the National Anthem.  Participants include special needs children and handicapped children.  Their performance helps to honor all of the troops fallen and still fighting for our freedom in this world, and as they exit the arena the team is in the missing man formation.  You won’t want to miss this performance!

Showbills can be downloaded at:  http://arabofnwa.tripod.com/id4.html Entry forms are available, there, too, just be sure to have the EIA Verifier initial your entry forms when your Coggins papers are checked.

Worried about the weather?  Marchant Hills Arena is a wonderful INDOOR Arena with wonderful concessions, provided by Bettie Marchant.  Featuring down home cooking at its best! Directions to the arena may be found at:   http://anwarcclub.tripod.com/arena_info.html.

NEGATIVE EIA (COGGINS) PAPERS REQUIRED AND WILL BE CHECKED
