Firey Ranch Friesians
![]()
YnskjeI am Margaret Firey- I reside west of Tulsa on a small ranch with my husband Steve, and our 2 girls Delany 5, and Daisy 1. I grew up in the foothills of Colorado on a ranch. I inherited a love for horses from my dad, whom I lost in 2007. I began riding before I could do much of anything else. Some of the names of my best friends growing up were not Sally, or Missy, or Susie- but they were Spud, Brute, Pepsi and Dusty. I spent ALL my spare time with our horses.
I have ridden english, western, and sidesaddle, but by far my favorite way to ride is bareback. In Colorado, I could ride 8 hours solid, and never cover the same ground twice-Now that’s riding! Riding has been my life long passion and I must agree with Will Rogers when he said, “I’ve never met a man I didn’t like, and I say –I have never met a horse I didn’t like- My love affair with horses followed me my whole life, taking me to the present time.
Four years ago, I took a big chance, mortgaged our farm and bought a big beautiful friesian mare that had been imported from the Netherlands. Ynskje Ut It Leechlan- In 2005, Ynskje gave us a gorgeous filly, Pehnina Van Firey-now 3 years old. Both will be present at the 2008 Horse Festival. We are very happy to share these wonderful family members with anyone who is interested in the breed- These magnificent horses will steal your heart with their wonderful temperaments, willing minds and funny personalities. Of all the horses I have had the privelege to know, the Friesian is the most elegant, the most intelligent, and the most wonderful. Ynskje and Pehnina have enriched my life in a way I would never have thought and owning them has been a big dream come true. Friesians are expensive, but if you want something bad enough- just work hard, and find a way to achieve your dreams. We did and we’ve never regretted it! So, work hard, reach for your dreams and remember that life is short, so ride your best horse first!
