Preferably, candidates should have expertise in equine nutrition, reproduction, and/or management. This full-time, 11-month appointment will have responsibilities for teaching (60%), extension (35%) and advising/service (5%). The successful candidate will be expected to develop and teach courses in equine production and management. Depending on the discipline expertise of the potential hire, these course offerings could include equine production and management, exercise physiology, nutrition and diseases and reproductive management. The successful candidate will also be expected to serve the rapidly developing equine industry in the state, as well as develop science-based educational materials for 4-H youth. The individual will also be expected to assist in advising undergraduate students with equine interests. Extension responsibilities would be concentrated in the summer months.</p>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Qualifications:</span></strong> Ph.D. in animal/equine science or related area is preferred (M.S. required) with an emphasis in equine nutrition, reproductive physiology and/or management. The successful candidate must effectively interact with students, faculty and staff, as well as with external clientele. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate education through instruction and demonstrate the ability to develop equine related extension programs that includes working with departmental and county extension educators to transfer knowledge to livestock industry and youth clientele. Individuals must demonstrate competence in organizing and presenting information orally and through written work in scholarly and semi-technical publications.</p>

The program will be available to any and all students, over the age of 18, who are willing and ready to experience what it is like to manage and operate a professional, state-of-the-art equine rescue and rehabilitation farm.
