2005 Buyer Talks About DD

DD at the Razorback Roundup 2005, ridden by student Jackie HarrisDear Dr. Jack,
The arrival of this year's Razorback Roundup invitation has motivated me to write this letter. My husband and I attended our first Razorback Roundup three years ago. We heard about it through our friend, Rex Blizzard, who puts on a wonderful tack auction at the event. He said that it was a very different type of auction, which had incredible pedigree horses that came with their own, if you will, background check.
Being the horse enthusiasts that we are we decided to go to the next auction. I was blown away! The horses were beautiful, sound, healthy, and very well taken care of by the students and your staff. I would have bought at least four that very night. The problem being, the two horses we had were boarded at a facility that was to capacity; and we lived in Suburbia. Your auction helped catapult us into a whole different way of life. I wanted more horses and land all around me. We eagerly put our house on the market, found beautiful acreage with a year round creek, and started to build our new home. We were nose high in construction when the next Razorback Roundup came up. The time wasn't quite ![]()
DD with owners Travis & Cortney Rogersopportune, but we went to at least look at the amazing athletes. Of course the check book came with us, but it stayed in the car.
We registered when we came in, bought some supplies at the tack auction, and sifted through the books. Then we headed down to the paddock area to take a closer look. This is when my will power checked out. I was immediately drawn to a gorgeous black horse with a distinctive white snip. We walked over to where the rider was talking to other prospective buyers; and the horse reached over to me and put his nose to my nose. I told my husband to run to the truck and get the check book, because he was getting ready to buy my Christmas present! I watched them unsaddle him so I could check out his conformation, and hurried to the arena to read his book from cover to cover. His name is Dynamically Detailed; a sweet, smart, calm two year old. We didn't stop bidding until we won. That seemed like forever since he was the second highest seller (two years ago).
I wanted to update you and your dedicated students and staff on our beloved D.D. He is worth his weight in gold. He has the biggest heart and would undoubtedly be my lapdog/horse if he could. I bought him in hopes to get back into the Hunter/Jumper world. I was familiar with his impeccable bloodlines. He is a decedent of Last Detail, and I knew that he would be a winner in the hunter under saddle show ring. The question was could he jump. He is a registered Appendix Quarter horse so I felt he had the athletic potential. He only had 6 months of under saddle training, but you and your students did an exceptional job starting him. We put him in lessons two months
after we got him settled; and he has taken weekly lessons ever since.
We found an exceptional trainer, Gabe Griffin, who was ready to take him to that next level. Gabe worked with Dynamically Detailed and me for several months under saddle. We made incredible progress in those months; and we were ready to see what he thought about jumping. D.D. was an absolute natural with Gabe at the helm. The very first jump he approached he sailed ![]()
Cortney and DD over without hesitation and with a beautiful hunter form. After witnessing his very first round I asked Gabe if we could enter him in the upcoming show. Gabe said sure.
Gabe is an amazing trainer. He had only trained D.D. for two weeks over fences before his first show. I am elated to say that Dynamically Detailed jumped 2' fences and oxers during his rounds and took home not only blue ribbons, but the grand champion ribbon for the day. D.D is so brave and willing. He has never refused a jump and actually gets perturbed if you canter him in an arena where jumps are and don't take him over them. Dynamically Detailed is now a four year old; and I am happy to say he just finished his first official show season, and he was always in the ribbons. We will attend our first official "A" show this December, in Tulsa. D.D. and I make a great team and I am so excited to have such an amazing partner. Thanks so much to you and your students and staff for giving me the opportunity to have D.D. as part of my family.
I want to thank Lani French for donating D.D. and all of the people who make this event so enjoyable for people like us. It is also a great feeling to know that not only are you buying a wonderful horse, but that the money goes directly to the University of Arkansas Equine Program. I want to encourage any spectators/potential buyers at this year's Razorback Roundup to read the books and see the horses in the ![]()
DD, happy and thriving in her new home, and winning besides!paddock area, because their next great love could be there!
